Behind The Scenes of Chrome’s URL Predictions

Image
from Chrome Story by Dinsan Francis This post is from Chrome Story - The Best Chromebook Resource on The Planet! I type C into the omnibox and Chrome knows that I want to go to Chromestory.com, (99.99 times that is). I type Y and Chrome knows I want to open Youtube.com. So, how does this happen? chrome://predictors/ can give you some details. It stores the predictions that Google Chrome has made for you and the some insights in to the accuracy of such predictions. There are also 3 values: hit count (how often you type those characters), miss count (how often you pick a different suggestion) and confidence score = hit_count/(hit_count+miss_count). Check “Filter zero confidences” to remove entries with a 0 confidence score. Green entries have a 1 confidence score, which means that the text is always associated with the URL. Take a look. Apple releases iOS 6.1.5 for iPod touch 4, also fixes FaceTime call bug

Image
While pretty much every other iOS device released since 2010 is getting iOS 7.0.4 , the not-qualified iPod touch 4 is getting the same FaceTime call bug fix but in retro iOS 6.1.5 form (2010 original iPad had not camera, so no FaceTime). And no, even if iOS 7 still hasn't won you over, you can't jam this update onto your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch 5. Sorry. You can grab it by going to General > Settings > Software Update on your 4th generation iPod touch, or by hooking up to iTunes over USB and hitting check for updates in iTunes. Let me know how it works for you!

The new software version is now available to all users with an iPhone 5s , iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad Air , iPad (third and fourth generations), iPad 2, iPad mini or fifth-generation iPod touch. The release is a minor update with bug fixes including a fix for a FaceTime issue that impacted all devices.
